Founded in 1935, Shields Bag and Printing has been manufacturing tamper evident security bags for over 25 years.

Historically supplied through a select group of distributors, Shields security bags are in use throughout North America under a variety of brand names. We service not only the largest Financial Institutions but have produced more bags for the Federal Reserve System and national armored carriers than any other company.

Shields is a vertically integrated security bag manufacturer with a staff that has been involved in the design, production and sales of tamper evident poly bags since the beginning of their use in North America. Our technical expertise in film extrusion and the unique relationship we have as a testing laboratory for our resin suppliers, allows us to develop film structures unique to security bags as seen in our newest generation of EcoSTAT®.

In 2014, expansion of the Shields Security Products Division led to relocation to our own dedicated facility on the Shields Bag – Yakima Campus. This allowed us to combine our manufacturing and distribution in one specialized facility and retain a sole focus on the unique needs of our customers.

Protecting the Environment

Our production facilities at Shields headquarters are engineered to help protect air quality by reducing emissions through the use of high-tech oxidizers. Through years of industry experience, we have developed specialized films which reduce waste, decrease energy use, and cut costs with no sacrifice to strength or performance.

Raw Materials

As a custom extruder of polyethylene, we stock more than two dozen grades of polymers and more than 50 colors and additives. We test deliveries in our laboratory to ensure that our materials meet established compliance standards before they are transferred to one of our 26 silos.

Custom Extrusion

Shields operates a variety of multi-layer extrusion lines, producing more than 100 million pounds of flexible packaging a year. Resin blends are formulated for each job to create film with the appropriate density, strength , and elasticity. At each step in the manufacturing process our operators and technicians use their expertise to maximize efficiency and produce high-performance security products.

Flexographic Printing

Shields puts over 70 years of printing expertise to work to provide both in-line and out-of-line printing on 30 multi-color presses. Whether your security bag calls for one-color labeling or full-color graphics, we have the press and the knowledge to get the job done.
